We believe God made this world,
God loves this world, God lives in this world.
We believe God holds it and cradles it in loving hands:
holding its pain,
caring for every memory of every person in conflict.
We believe God loves each human being,
on every side of every struggle,
who has given of themselves,
even to death,
for their friends and family and country.
We believe violence breaks Gods heart;
bullets tear through Gods realm;
and war opposes Gods love.
But we believe love lives longer than hatred;
hope burns away at despair;
God calls to us from the violence,
and we can work in love for a better world.
So be it.
(seasons of the spirit)
Prayer
Lord on this Remembrance Day we pray for peace in our world, we long for an end to all war, conflict and suffering. We feel helpless in these days and our hearts break in sadness and sorrow at our broken world.
We pray for all those who grieve the loss of loved ones lost in war and conflict, on this day of public remembering give them strength to remember with thanksgiving and hope for a better world.
Holy Spirit sweep the lands, turn hatred to love, sorrow to dancing and despair to hope. Help us all to live together with our difference and celebrate diversity. Help us to be peacemakers in our own homes, our own communities.
As we wear our poppies today, symbols of hope in our brokenness, we reflect on the Christian symbol of the cross, where our saviour gave his life for our freedom. To live in freedom within ourselves and the world is a longing of every heart. Lord give us the courage to live out the sacrifice of Christ and the countless lives lost in battle, may peace begin with us.
Amen

Churches Together in England statement at the death of Her Majesty the Queen
It is with deep sadness that Churches Together in England receives the news of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II at home in Balmoral. Churches Together in England unites 52 Church denominations in England including Anglican, Catholic, Free Church, Pentecostal, Charismatic and Orthodox traditions. Our Member Churches unite in offering deepest condolences and prayers for HRH the Prince of Wales and the whole Royal Family at this time.
HM Queen Elizabeth has reigned happy and glorious for over 70 years. As monarch she has often spoken about her Christian faith and how it has strengthened her and been a guide and source of hope during her entire reign. During her reign she has invited fifteen Prime Ministers to form governments in the United Kingdom. She has seen the highs and the lows of the nation’s history over these past decades. She has been a steadfast presence in the midst of the changing sands of time. Churches Together in England’s Member Churches are grateful for her reign and the value she has placed on the role of all of the Churches in the fabric of our nation and the nations of the Commonwealth.
We join with the people of our nation in mourning her loss and pray for those involved in making preparations for the funeral. We pray comfort and strength for the whole nation at this time as we join together to mourn the passing of Her Majesty the Queen and reflect on her life well lived.

We received notification that our defibrillator was called upon last week. It was deployed but ultimately not required.
Patient confidentially prevents us from learning any details.
This is the second time our defibrillator has been deployed within the last 9 months and so we must have it in a good location.
The defibrillator is back in service and ready for it’s next call.
We understand that Barbara Cubly funeral will be in Blackpool. We can send cards – Please contact a steward for the address.
