Reverse Halloween – Help requested please

On Thursday 31st October both Latchford Methodist and New Song churches will host a Reverse Halloween event by distributing over 300 Goody bags around the estate near the locks.

The Goody bags will include information about both churches and our events.

We need help to pack the goody bags and also distribute them.  If you can help with either then please meet in the church hall at 4.30pm.  The plan is to depart the church by 5pm and lifts will be available.

130 year Celebration!

In 1894 three great events took place, Blackpool Tower opened, the Manchester Ship Canal too and most importantly, on 10th October that year Latchford Methodist Church opened. So, all are celebrating their 130th anniversary this year!

Latchford Methodist Church has meant much to so many people over the years in many different ways. We wanted to celebrate its history and mark the occasion. We are holding several events over the weekend of 11th to 13th October and wanted to let you know about them, so you can join us at some or all of the celebrations on our special Anniversary.

Friday 11th October at 7pm – Celebratory Concert in the Hall – prices adults – £7.50, Under 16s – £5.00 and Under 5s – free. If you would like tickets, please let me know.
Saturday 12th October 11am to 4pm – Flower Festival in the Church, this event is free but donations welcome. There will be various musical items in the Church throughout the day and refreshments will be served.

Sunday 13th October at 10:30am – Morning Worship led by Rev. Heather Cooper followed by a Faith Lunch.

We would be delighted if you could join us over this special weekend but appreciate this may not be possible for everyone. If you are unable to join us and would like to make a donation to the Church so we can carry on our mission and fellowship please use this link https://donate.mydona.com/latchford-methodist-church

Look forward to seeing you on our very special weekend.

God Bless

Carole Galsworthy – Church Secretary (on behalf of Latchford Methodist Church)

In the hall you will find patterns on the table by the door into church and there is also a big bag of wool if you need some.  The angels will be needed by Sunday 3rd December so there is time to attach labels onto them and a bag will be put out for the finished angels.

We need your help

We do amazing work in the community but then we tend to just move onto the next thing that needs our help.

To help us to apply for community grants to continue our work we need to document what we have done, preferably over the last 10 years.

Please get your thinking caps on and help us produce a list of all the community work and feedback we have had over the last 10 years.  This can be anything from visiting people, cutting the grass, litter picks, talking to people in the street, handing out free food and drink, food banks, Room at the Inn, knitting or making something.  Perhaps someone has just said thank you to us for doing something. Our list does go on and on…. but please note we need community based topics and not faith based.

If you can think of anything then please write it down and pin in to the board in our hall.. or let a steward know, or e-mail us.

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to ask either Wendy, Iain or Linda.

Road Closure Confusion

There is some confusion over road closures this weekend with mixed messages from road signs, newspapers and local government sources.
If your driving to church this Sunday then it looks like Kingsway South onto Knutsford Road and then hook right around The Cheshire Cheese route should be open.
