Church Prayer – St Philip’s
Father God, we give thanks for your Spirit of Mission which allows us to step out in faith knowing that you are leading us. We pray for the work on our garden which allows us to be more visible in our community and gives us a space to invite the community in and to become involved in planting and caring for our environment. Give us the opportunity to speak and share our faith and to invite the community into our building and into worship. We pray for Transform North West who are using our school hall that they may reach out to the lost generations and help them to know your love for them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good News!
As we celebrated our 125th Church Birthday, reflected on the past and looked forward to the future we learnt that the “National Lottery Community Fund” has accepted our application for a grant.
The following week, as we commenced our first worship service in our 126th year, we received word that our application had been successful. We have been awarded a grant of £6,200 for an Architectural Feasibility Study.
This study is needed to draw up the changes we need to make to our property to allow us to fulfil our mission and worship goals.
This success is due to our funding adviser, Enid, and the hard work of all our own growth teams.
This is one large step along the path we need to follow and the timing of these events suggests our Lord is blessing our direction.
We also need to say thank you for the funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Church Prayer – Sankey Valley Methodist Circuit
In a time of transition and change we pray for the churches of the Sankey Valley Circuit and all those who hold offices in our churches. We see resources declining as ministers move away and no new ministers move in to replace them. Help us to see this situation not in the context of decline, bus as a challenge to reflect on what our churches do and whether we can operate more effectively by working together. We pray that the holy Spirit will show us how best to respond to the challenge of changing times and to see in this changing context, opportunities for mission and service. Remind us that God’s love for all creation never changes.

Celebrating our 125th Birthday by sharing Cake
On Sunday we shared our birthday celebrations and the love we have for God with the people of Latchford by distributing birthday cakes.
At 11am we gave, with our love, 190 cakes away in the Latchford village, followed by a further 90 cakes later in the day.
A special thanks to everyone who provided / baked the cakes, prepared them for sharing and to those who walked them around the village. We are truly blessed. xxx
Growth Plan update
As part of our growth plan, we have submitted what will be the first of several grant applications. This grant, if successful, will be used to engage an architect to produce a feasibility study followed by more detailed plans in order that estimated costs can be produced and a firm and fundable plan can be adopted.
125th Celebration photographs
During our 125th Celebrations we have taken photographs that we plan to upload onto our website and store for prosperity. If anyone has any objections to their photograph not appearing then please let Linda know.

Going Deeper In October and November
The Going Deeper group is studying a course which explores the journey of faith in words and music. This includes hearing new worship music as well as more well-known items. There is no need to be “musical” – most of us currently meeting aren’t! – but it gives the opportunity to pay more attention to the words and music of hymns and songs than we usually have the time for in worship. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays in October (7th & 21st) and November (4th & 18th) in the lounge at 1.30-2.45pm. Everyone is welcome.

We remember especially those people who live alone and feel isolated. Be with those who are unwell at this present time, help them Lord to feel loved. We ask these prayers in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen. Minister: Rev Jenny MacGregor

Annual Sponsored Ride and Stride Event for Churches – Important
Annual Sponsored Ride and Stride event takes place on Saturday morning on 14th September. The aim is to ‘collect’ churches by visiting them and this can be done in any way except car, van etc. You can walk, cycle, ride a horse, use a motorised scooter, hop, skip and so on! We have a map of a possible route to local churches, but you can choose to do something different even if you are away on holiday. Even if you can get to just one church that would be appreciated. The event is organised by the Historic Churches of Cheshire Trust. All sponsorship is split equally between the Trust and our church and by taking part it gives us a better chance to receive grant from the Trust – something that we may well need in the coming months. In previous years a few people have done this event, but it would be good to see a large number of us this year. Sponsor forms are on the hall noticeboard along with a poster.
Stalls For Christmas Fayre (November 16th 2019)
Stalls For Christmas Fayre (November 16th 2019). Tombola (Allan & Joyce, Chocolate Stall (Gill), Cakes (Rita), Round Pound (Kath), Crafts (Helen & Carole), Christmas (Jean), Raffle and Hamper Stall. If you have anything you would like to donate for the stalls could you please give them to the person/people named.
Benevolent fund
Our benevolent fund has sat unused for a long time, recently there has been a demand upon it and has depleted the funds, therefore we will be taking up a benevolent collection separate to your church collection at our future Holy Communion services.
Recording of services
As part of our growth plan we are going to be recording our Sunday services which will be available to listen to on line. We would also like to purchase some basic MP3 players that the services can be downloaded onto for people to take and listen to and bring back from one Sunday to another. They are for anyone housebound, missing on Sunday or wanting to re listen to a service. We envisage the cost of the MP3 players to be in the region of £30 each if anyone would like to give a donation towards the cost please give it to Julian.
Friendly Club
Friendly Club things are moving for the good, we have one new member and there has been a Christmas Meal booked for November and we hope to start again in February.
Membership classes
Rev Linda Bishop is looking to start some membership classes in the autumn, if you are interested please give your name to either Julian or Linda.
